Donations
Donations from community members enhance library services and support our mission to be a welcoming place where people can learn, connect, and discover and grow. The following guidelines are intended to help ensure that all donations support the Library’s mission and can be used effectively.
Material Donations
We appreciate your support through book and DVD donations! To help us best serve the community, please follow these donation guidelines:
Accepted Items:
- Hardcover and trade paperback books (fiction & nonfiction) in excellent condition, published within the last 3 years
- Clean children’s books with no damage or markings DVDs in proper cases, free of scratches
Not Accepted:
- Textbooks, encyclopedias, CDs, Blu-ray, VHS or cassette tapes
- Non-fiction books over 3 years old
- Damaged, stained, or moldy materials, or those with strong odors Items with writing, torn pages, or missing covers
- Oversized materials
Donation Tips:
- Please bring donations inside—do not leave items outside or in the book drop
- Limit donations to one small box or bag per visit
- Receipts are available upon request (note: we cannot assign a dollar value).
KCL reserves the right to accept or decline any donation and may use or dispose of items as needed. For large donations, consider reaching out to the Friends of the Kenai Community Library.
Monetary Support
For those wishing to provide monetary support, we encourage you to direct your donation to the Friends of the Kenai Community Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports KCL's programs and services.
Memorial Donations
Community groups or individuals interested in donating a book in honor or memory of someone can contact us by emailing kenailibrary@kenai.city to determine what might best fit the collection and respect the memory of your honoree.
