Kenai Parks and Recreation Master Plan
In 2025, the City of Kenai hired Corvus Design to help create a 10 to 20 year Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The City wants community input to shape this plan, so it will host several workshops and meetings and send out various surveys to help guide its development.
- A kickoff workshop was held on April 29th at 6:30 at the Kenai Chamber. It was a workshop to provide initial input on the development of the Master Plan.
-
Following the workshop, an online survey was conducted to gather additional community initial input. The survey closed on May 21st.
-
The next step will be to develop a community survey based on the feedback from the workshop. That will be released to the community during late summer and early Fall.
What is a master plan?
A Parks and Recreation Master Plan is a long-term guide for how a community manages its parks, trails, open spaces, and recreation programs. It helps decide what to build, fix, or improve based on the community's needs and what they can afford.
What it usually includes:
- Input from the community
- A look at what parks and facilities already exist
- Plans for upgrades or new projects
- Ideas for funding and partnerships
- A timeline for getting things done
