Animal Shelter Volunteer Application

Section 1 - APPLICANT INFORMATION

If yes, you MUST have your parent or legal guardian sign electronically below. By electronically signing below, a parent or legal guardian is consenting to the above child's participation in the Kenai Animal Shelter volunteer program.
Section 2 - QUESTIONS

Do you have any physical or other disabilities that may require special considerations in order for you to perform your volunteer duties? *
Volunteers can volunteer a maximum of two (2) hours per day, six (6) hours per week.
As an adult, have you been convicted of: Theft in the last 5 years; Misconduct involving a controlled substance in the last 5 years; any felony in the last 10 years; Cruelty to Animals ever; Assault in the last 10 years? *

Section 4 - SIGNATURE
1. Attend an Open House instructed by Kenai Animal Shelter staff. Location and date will be announced on the City or Kenai’s website.
2. Read the Volunteer Guide and submit the Volunteer Guide Acknowledgment, the Volunteer Application and a copy of your Driver’s License. Links to the documents will be sent to the prospective volunteer after attending the Open House. No applications will be accepted prior to an individual attending the Open House!
3. Approved volunteers must sign a Release of Liability, Hold Harmless, and Indemnity Agreement Form prior to volunteering.
4. Complete online training courses (cost of course paid by the City of Kenai). The Chief Animal Control Officer will provide you with instructions for enrolling/completing the courses.
5. In addition to the online work above, approved volunteers must complete volunteer training course(s) specific to the tasks they wish to perform prior to volunteering. Training details are outlined in the volunteer orientation checklist. (provided at training).
6. We recommend participants of the volunteer program have their own health insurance coverage before beginning volunteer activities. Workers compensation coverage will not apply to volunteers.
All potential volunteers 18 years of age and older are subject to a criminal background check at the discretion of the City of Kenai. The City reserves the right to deny volunteer opportunities to individuals based upon the results of the background check. By electronically signing below, you swear that the information in this application is true and accurate; and in the case of an adult, you consent to a criminal background check for the purposes of approving or denying you as a volunteer.

To complete the background check process for all volunteers 18 years of age or older, Animal Control will need a copy of your driver’s license or state issued ID. You can include it in your application through the upload button below or bring a copy to the Animal Shelter after completing the electronic application.
