Water Main Break Fixed - City Water Customers East of Beaver Loop Road - Boil Water Notice Lifted

Broken pipe with spraying water.

UPDATE AT 2:00 P.M. 01/10/2020: The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has formally rescinded the boil water notice issued on January 8, 2019.  Water pressure has been restored and the certified laboratory has verified that a total of 3 water samples collected on January 9, 2019 were satisfactory.

UPDATE AT 1:25 P.M. 01/09/2020: Water quality samples were taken this morning from three private residences and dropped off at the lab just before noon today.  Test results will be available early tomorrow afternoon.  If labs come back acceptable; the boil notice will be lifted at that time.  Thanks again for everyone’s patience.

UPDATE AT 5:00 P.M. 01/08/2020: The water main has been fixed.  The Contractor discovered the fire hydrant at the corner of Beaver Loop Road and the Kenai Spur Highway had frozen and was leaking out the bottom of hydrant.  The hydrant valve has been closed and, while the Thompson Park area never actually lost water pressure, the Boil Water Notice will be in effect until further notice while the City insures the quality of the water.  The water will be tested on Thursday, January 9, 2020 for bacteria; test results take 24 hours to confirm.  If tests come back acceptable, the Boil Water Notice is anticipated to be lifted on Friday, January 10, 2020.  Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE AT 12:14 P.M. 01/08/2020: All properties on City water, East of Beaver Loop Road are affected. The water will be shut off this afternoon between 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for approximately 1-2 hours for repairs to be made.
