The Kenai City Council is comprised of one mayor and six council members who are elected at large by the residents of the City of Kenai.  The vice mayor is selected to serve a one-year term from among the council members shortly after the election. Municipal elections are held the first Tuesday of each October and each council member elected serves a three-year term.

The City Council serves as the Legislative body for the City of Kenai.  Responsibilities include enacting laws that govern the City, adopting the annual budget, and appropriating funds to provide city services.  The City Council also establishes policies executed through administration.

City Council meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of each month.  Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. and are conducted in City Hall Council Chambers located at 210 Fidalgo Avenue, Kenai.  Meetings can be viewed live or archived via the internet.  The meeting agenda and packet can be viewed on our website the Friday before a regularly scheduled meeting. Older agendas, minutes, and packets are available.
